From Sea to Shore: Coastal Data Sampling and Research Question Formulation


Join the Tulane Center for K-12 STEM Education partnered with LUMCON for a two-part field experience connecting shipboard environmental sampling with shore-based data evaluation and inquiry.

Teachers in grades 5th-12th are invited to attend.

Participating teachers will join LUMCON professionals for a half-day cruise aboard the R/V Acadiana for a hands-on teaching experience as we travel through Terrebonne Bay.

This professional development consists of 10 total hours: one in-person day on Saturday, December 5th from 8am-5pm (9 hours) and one virtual session on Monday, December 7th from 6-7pm (1 hour). Participating teachers will receive a $300 stipend upon completion of the PD.

Disclaimer: This professional development experience includes a four-hour boat cruise where teachers will not have access to a bathroom. Participants must be able to remain on the boat for the entirety of the trip.
