Climate Change and the Ecology of Coastal Ecosystems

In-Person June Workshop: Climate Change and the Ecology of Coastal Ecosystems - for teachers of grades 9-12!

High school STEM Teachers are invited to participate in Tulane's teacher professional development this summer! Thanks to funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF), we are offering this 3-day on-campus workshop.

Join Professor Emily Farrer and PhD student Abby Coldwell from Tulane's Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) Department to learn about climate change in coastal ecosystems and the restoration and mitigation techniques used in the Gulf Coast. We aim to increase teachers’ confidence in including climate change issues in their curriculum with a focus on hands-on ecological research, and we discuss ways we can empower students to be part of climate change solutions.

The Climate Change Workshop will take place on Tulane's Uptown Campus on June 16th-18th from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm each day. There will be a 30-minute break for lunch; lunch will be provided.

Participating teachers will receive a $500 stipend upon completion of the PD. Teachers must participate in all parts of the workshop to be eligible for the stipend. There is a $20 refundable deposit that will be refunded to teachers upon completion of the PD.
