Join the Tulane Center for K-12 STEM Education and the LSU Center for River Studies to learn about current coastal deltaic issues in the region, and how to introduce and engage students in understanding how these issues impact their lives. This 3-day workshop will consist of 2 days at Tulane's Campus in New Orleans on June 24th and June 25th and 1 day at LSU's Center for River Studies in Baton Rouge on June 26th. Tulane will provide shuttle transportation to the Greater New Orleans area (schools located within 50 miles of New Orleans) teachers from Tulane's Uptown campus to LSU's River Center on Wednesday, June 26th. The first 15 teachers that live or teach at schools located over 50 miles outside of New Orleans and within the Gulf Region will receive additional accommodations (hotel for 2 nights and mileage reimbursement up to $300). Upon completion of the PD, teachers will receive a $300 stipend and curriculum ideas to take back to their schools that align with Louisiana's science teaching standards to engage their students on the impacts this problem poses on natural resources and resource management in the region.
